About Youth Vote
What We're About
This site was built with the Philippine Voter in mind and is designed to help you find as much information about your candidate so that you can make an informed choice come election day. This site is non partisan and will never seek to endorse any candidate. All we want to do is use technology to show the Philippine voters all sides of each candidate, whether it be political or personal, because we feel that whoever the candidate presents himself to be today and who the candidate was in the past will give will give us a pretty good idea on how he or she will lead the country until 2016.
A main feature of our website is we will break down searches by what we call PRESIDENTIAL ISSUES (PI) represented by the buttons you see above. If the symbols seem familiar that's probably because we based the PI's on the 8 Millennium Development Goals as set by the United Nations Development program. These PIs represent the most critical issues a candidate will face and how these issues are addressed will reflect how far our country has to go in fulfilling the basic needs and rights of every Filipino individual. The winning candidate in 2010 will have to focus on any one of these eight issues (depending on their primary advocacy) and work his or her way down the line to deliver to the Filipino people what we consider to be a complete list of MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS for any citizen to live a decent and humane life.
How the Site Works
Right now the site pulls from various known web sources and aggregates information based on fixed keyword searches (based on the PI's). In the spirit of fair play, all keywords ARE THE SAME for each candidate on the same issue. As the site grows it will include blogs, candidate wikis, surveys, widgets, and later on, even a voting system to let us know how you feel about the candidates potential to win the elections.
Hang Around and Let Us Know What You Think
But for now, play around with the site, and let us know what you think we should be doing or even what we shouldn't. Since this site is being designed for you, we want to know what's on your mind.Drop us an email for any ideas, comments, and suggestions you might have and we'll run it by the team to see if it's doable.
Oh and if you like what you see, tell your friends.
In the meantime get yourself registered! After all, you can't vote if you don't register.
Sincerely,
The Youth Vote Team
